Publication Date - April 2003; Control Solutions International

Simulation continues to be an important tool in industrial system integration and optimization applications. It saves time and money, and typically results in greater operational efficiency for the enterprise.

But the technology has room for improvement. Users still have to reproduce the logic built into an industrial simulation model when the experimentation and analysis phase is complete and the real control system is developed. This causes concerns about how closely the simulation logic reflects the real control system, and users would welcome any method or product that can reduce the redundancy, doubt, and costs inherent in the current approach.
